Dear Family and Friends:

Our fund is still in its infancy stage but we have high hopes for it.   As many of you know we held a Sweet Street Dessert Fundraiser in 2006 and raised $7,500.  Our goal is to continue to grow our Fund and raise substantial amounts of money that will go to researching a cure for cancer.  

After Bob’s diagnosis of Head and Neck cancer in 2004, and prostate cancer in 2005, we felt a need to be involved in doing something to help find a cure for this disease.  As many of you know, Linda has lost her parents and extended family to cancer.  The fund was started at the suggestion of Linda Lowe at Fox Chase Cancer Center.   The golf outing is our second fundraiser to date but definitely not our last.  We hope to turn this golf outing into an annual event.   We also have several ideas for other fundraisers.  

Raising money for The Devlin Fund has made us aware of how many people are affected in some way by cancer.   There isn’t a person we talk to who hasn’t had cancer themselves or had a close family member who has been touched by it. 

Our fundraising efforts have allowed us to meet many amazing people.   It is unbelievable how generous people can be.  We cannot begin to explain how great it feels to have survivors come up to us and tell us their story.  Or people who tell us what a wonderful thing we are doing by raising money.   Truth is, we get more out of this than just the fundraising.   We have developed many wonderful friendships with people we have met through our experience at Fox Chase Cancer Center as well as through our fundraising efforts.

The future of cancer patients’ longevity and quality of life will require substantial amounts of money to fund the necessary research.   As many of you are aware, government funding for cancer research has been cut tremendously in recent years.   It is up to people like us to help raise money to fight this disease and eventually conquer it.
